How to take a good photo.
We highly recommend that you take the main photo showing the front three-quarter view (refer to examples above). The photo should be taken at a standing level and not while crouching down, this can distort the photo. Other examples that you can use within your website ad include:
  • Exterior: front
  • Exterior: side
  • Exterior: back
  • Interior: dash
  • Interior: front seats
  • Interior: back seats
  • Boot space
  • Engine
  • Wheels and tires
  • Items that make your car special
Composition
The purpose of the image is to show buyers features of the car including the color and condition. Therefore it is vital that your photo does not include objects like, people, other cars, fences, trees etc. For best results you should aim to take your photo with a white wall in the background. You should also position the car so it almost fills your camera viewer with only a slight amount of space left around the border.  
Camera Settings
To obtain the best quality image, use the automatic setting on your camera - only use manual settings if absolutely necessary. 
Lighting
As you can see, the difference between the photographs above and below is striking. To get the best results take your photo with the sun behind you or on a slightly overcast day. This will ensure that your image does not have too much contrast resulting in your image looking either too dark or too bright.
 
Pricing
If you take a picture with a price displayed in the window it may be visible. There have been instances where the selling price is cheaper than the price shown in the photo. If you wish to prevent this and do not want to take more photos, remove the price from the window before taking the picture.
Photo guidelines for Website Ads
  • Images should be saved and sent as "jpeg" or "jpg". This format is consistent for most Internet sites.
  • Images that are to be displayed on the web do not need to have a high resolution, so there is no need to take pictures on the highest setting. The images themselves need not be any larger than 640 x 480 pixels.
  • The photo should beof the car that you are selling only.
